Academic Gowning Ceremony Held to Present Our Faculty Members' New Academic Titles
An Academic Gowning Ceremony was held on December 11, 2024 to celebrate the promotion of several faculty members at our university. The honourees included Murat Hamderi from the Faculty of Engineering, who received the title of Professor; Ahmet Onur Pehlivan, who was promoted to Associate Professor; and Mustafa Erkam Özateş, Merve Teke Budaklı, and Erdem Onur Özyurt, who were appointed as Assistant Professors. From the Faculty of Law, Anıl Köroğlu and Murat Sarıkaya received the title of Associate Professor. Additionally, Mehmet Soytürk and Sevgin Batuk Ünlü from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences were promoted to Associate Professor.

The international conference entitled “Navigating the Complex and Evolving Structure of the Balkans”, organized in collaboration with our university, Ibn Haldun University, and Tirana New York University, initiated with an opening program held on December 5, 2024. The event was attended by Mehmet Kemal Bozay, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey; our Rector, Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız; the Rector of Ibn Haldun University, Prof. Dr. Atilla Arkan; and the Rector of Tirana New York University, Prof. Dr. Ali Güneş. Hosted by our university, the conference will continue on December 5-6, 2024, bringing together academics and experts from both domestic and international spheres to provide participants with an in-depth analysis of the transformation processes in the Balkans.
Climate Crisis and Carbon Footprint Seminar was held in cooperation with TAU-SEM & Allianz Teknik
In the seminar given by Allianz Teknik, one of the business partners of TAU-SEM, on December 2, 2024, Environmental Engineer Nilay Çakır emphasized the effects of climate change in the world, the measures to be taken and global risks.

The international symposium entitled “Kultureller Wandel im Spannungsfeld von Kommunikation und der Globalisierung sozialer Praktiken / Cultural Change in the Context of the Globalization of Communication and Social Practices” was inaugurated at our University. Organized by the Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences, the three-day event is being hosted by our institution with the participation of Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, Vice Rector and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş, Prof. Dr. Michael Waltisberg, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rainer Schmidt, as well as academics, researchers, and students from both domestic and international institutions.

The opening of the international workshop titled "Battery Science 2024," organized by our university’s Department of Energy Science and Technology on November 11-12, 2024, took place with the participation of our Rector, Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, our General Coordinator, Prof. Dr. Ferit Küçükay, as well as academicians, researchers, industry representatives, and students from both Turkey and abroad. In his opening remarks, our Rector addressed the guests, stating, “I am proud that such a workshop is being held at our university and that we are able to bring together academicians from leading institutions and universities in Turkey and Germany as well as pioneering industry representatives in the battery sector in Turkey.
A “November 10 Atatürk Memorial Day Program” was Held at Our University
The “November 10 Atatürk Memorial Day Program” took place at the University’s Ceremony Square with the participation of our academic and administrative staff as well as our students. The program initiated with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Atatürk bust, followed by a moment of silence and the recitation of the National Anthem at 9:05 a.m. During the ceremony, the values bequeathed by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the achievements of the Republic were emphasized in the “Atatürk Memorial Speech,” which marked the end of the programme.

The Turkish-German University (TGU) 2024-2025 Academic Year Opening Ceremony was performed on October 25, 2024 with the participation of the Director of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey Prof. Fahrettin Altun, our Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, our General Coordinator Prof. Ferit Küçükay, Istanbul Deputy Governor Mustafa Kaya, Turkish-Japanese University of Science and Technology Rector Prof. Bekir Sami Yılbaş, Beykoz District Governor Faik Oktay Sözer, Beykoz Chief Public Prosecutor Assoc. Earthquake Evacuation Drill Held at Our University
A simultaneous earthquake evacuation drill was practised on October 23, 2024, following the training provided by the Istanbul Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate (AFAD) instructors within the scope of Disaster Awareness Training for our university students, academic and administrative staff. As the drill started with the sound of a siren, all participants took the "Drop-Cover-Hold" position and recreated the moment of the earthquake. After the tremor, emergency exit direction signs were followed and the assembly areas were reached and the instructions were put into practice. After the buildings were evacuated, our Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, General Coordinator Prof. Dr. Ferit Küçükay, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş and Secretary General Özgür Ali Şirin reviewed the precautions that could be taken against the earthquake at the Crisis Desk and evaluated the success of the drill.
Our University Welcomed New Students with an Orientation Program 2024-2025
Academic Year Orientation Program for New Students was held on September 30, 2024. It was held in the D Block Conference Hall of our University Classrooms Building with the participation of Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş, faculty members, administrative staff and students. The Orientation Program, which attracted great interest from our students, started with the opening speech of Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş. The Vice Rector highlighted the points that the students should pay attention to during the adaptation process to university life. She also made various suggestions for them to improve themselves by adapting to their education plans.
Visit to our University from the Vice President of Higher Education Council Prof. Dr. Haldun Göktaş
Deputy President of the Council of Higher Education Prof. Dr. Haldun Göktaş and Advisor to the President of the Council of Higher Education Haşim Koç visited our University on 24 September 2024. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, President of TAU-Consortium Prof. Dr. Rita Süssmuth, General Coordinator Prof. Dr. Ferit Küçükay, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş, Prof. Dr. Hamide Özden Özkaya Ferendeci, Prof. Dr. Ali Gökhan Yavuz, representatives of the German Ministry and academic staff participated in the visit. Evaluations were made about the academic studies, projects carried out and future goals of our university. The visit ended with a tour of the campus and Mevlüde Genç Library.

The Opening Ceremony of the Guest House of our University was held
The guest house of our university was opened with a ceremony held on 23 September 2024. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, General Coordinator Prof. Dr. Ferit Küçükay, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş, Prof. Dr. Hamide Özden Özkaya Ferendeci, Prof. Dr. Ali Gökhan Yavuz and Secretary General Harun Ceylan as well as our academic and administrative staff attended the ceremony. Stating that the guest house will meet an important need, our Rector thanked everyone who contributed to the construction process. After the opening ceremony, our Rector visited the rooms and social areas of the guest house with the accompanying delegation. Turkish-German University Guesthouse will be opened for reservation on 27 September 2024 and will start to serve on 30 September 2024 for the staff of our University, public personnel, Foundation University staff, academic staff and other visitors who come to our University for a period of time to participate in education-research activities or to make official contacts.
The Dean's Office Handover Ceremony Was Held in Our Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences
On September 16, 2024 the dean's office handover ceremony was held in our university's Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences. At the ceremony, which was attended by our Rector Prof. Cemal Yıldız, our General Coordinator Prof. Ferit Küçükay, our Vice Rectors Prof. Aysel Uzuntaş and Prof. Hamide Özden Özkaya Ferendeci, Prof. Burhanettin Aykut Arıkan handed over his position to Prof. Aysel Uzuntaş as an acting dean due to his retirement. At the ceremony, which was also attended by the faculty's academic and administrative staff, our Rector Prof. Cemal Yıldız thanked Prof. Burhanettin Aykut Arıkan for his efforts in his position as dean and wished Prof. Aysel Uzuntaş success.
